Audio Examples and revised footnotes
The long-promised site update has arrived. Apart from the usual fixes and improvements, this update brings you audio examples of all relevant sections from most of the pieces discussed. This is possible courtesy of composer Caspar Reiff (Tolkien Ensemble), who graciously allowed me to use excerpts of his group’s work for illustration purposes on this site. I am very, very thankful for that and want to shout out a big Kudos to the Tolkien Ensemble!
All examples are embedded in a player and can be streamed directly from the site. Please note that all these files are strictly for information purposes; they are reduced in audio quality and must not be downloaded, recorded or used in any other way without express written consent of the copyright holders. All copyright remains with the Tolkien Ensemble.
Also, all footnotes are now embedded directly in the text. No need to skim through the sidebar anymore.
I hope you enjoy this update!

Tolkien Seminar 2013 Aachen
Welcome to the brand-new News section here at Middle-earth Music!
To to kick things off, here’s an announcement:
I will be speaking about Middle-earth Music at this year’s Tolkien Seminar in Aachen/Germany on April 28th.
This seminar is hosted by the German Tolkien Society and I am very honored to be invited to speak about my work there!
Below you will find the official announcement poster for the event.
Head over to the DTG Website to learn more.
I would love to see you there and guarantee an interesting presentation, dealing with some pieces not featured in my book, as well as of course a short summary of what’s in the book :)
All the best
Tobias
